For Immediate Release
Broadview, IL—Jan 10, 2019—National Van Lines proudly welcomes the newest addition to our interstate-moving family: El Cajon, CA-based McCarthy Transfer & Storage, Inc. joined the team Jan. 1.
“We are excited to join forces with the National family,” owner Thomas McCarthy said. “While we have been partners for many years with National Van Lines’ sister company—military movers National Forwarding Co.—now we are all in.”
Proudly claiming the title, “San Diego’s oldest family-owned moving company,” McCarthy Transfer & Storage celebrates its centennial Feb. 19, 2019.
The company has been family-owned since its 1919 founding when Leo B. McCarthy established McCarthy Transfer & Storage as a local horse-and-wagon freight-transportation operation. He ran the business until his 1958 retirement. His son, Tom H. McCarthy, then took over the business. When Tom’s son, Tim, assumed company leadership in 1978, he moved the company to a modern 21,000 square-foot military-approved warehouse with automatic fire sprinklers.
The company entered the interstate-moving arena when Thomas McCarthy joined the business in 2007. As the company grows, it continues updating its technology and equipment to provide customers a superior moving experience.
“We’re looking forward to the opportunities ahead,” Thomas said.
